Job summary

McCain Elementary in Buckeye, Arizona seeks a Paraprofessional / Emergency Substitute Teacher to provide continuity of instruction, supervise students and maintain a safe learning environment.

Reports to the Principal; requires a high school diploma, DPS fingerprint clearance, and a substitute teaching certificate. Elementary experience is preferred, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Arizona DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Minimum of a valid Emergency Substitute Teaching or Regular Substitute Teaching Certificate.
• School-based instructional experience working with elementary-aged students (preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow district policies when working with students, parents, and staff.
• Maintain a safe, positive classroom environment per district policies.
• Supervise students in classrooms, libraries, and outdoor spaces.
• Provide support to students to complete tasks and activities.
• Monitor student behavior and enforce school rules and disciplinary policies.
• Facilitate small group instruction or tutoring as needed.
• Assist with preparing instructional materials and organizing resources.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to address student needs and provide feedback.
• Manage classroom technology and assist with transitions between activities.
