Job summary

Boston Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist teachers in delivering a high‑quality education program. This temporary vacancy will end when the current paraprofessional returns, with an anticipated vacancy date and potential LT substitute start if the position is not vacated on time.

The role supports direct instruction, prepares instructional materials, and helps manage classroom behavior under the supervision of a Principal/Head of School.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 48 college credits or an Associate's Degree, or passing ParaPro/WorkKeys.
• Minimum 2 years experience with young children.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States by start date.
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Teacher certification or social work license preferred.
• BPS values multilingual candidates (Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali).

Responsibilities

• Supports direct instruction to children individually, in small groups, and in classroom settings.
• Provides assistance with classroom activities.
• Prepares instructional materials.
• Assists in classroom set up and clean up.
• Manages individual and classroom behavior using prescribed approaches.
• Supervises students on field trips.
• Performs other related duties as requested by Head of School/Principal.

Skills

Two years experience with young kids

U.S. work authorization
