We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Elementary Music Teacher to help students in grades K–5 discover the joy of music. The teacher will develop and deliver engaging music lessons that include singing, rhythm, movement, instruments, music theory, and appreciation for various musical styles and cultures. The ideal candidate fosters a love for music while building foundational skills in a supportive, inclusive classroom environment.
DutiesKey Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach general music classes using a variety of instructional strategies and materials.
- Introduce students to basic music theory, rhythm, vocal techniques, and instrument use (e.g., Orff instruments, recorders, percussion).
- Lead group singing, movement activities, and music games that support cognitive and social development.
- Prepare students for school concerts, performances, or assemblies.
- Create a positive and respectful classroom culture that promotes creativity and participation.
- Assess and monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records and providing regular feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide events.
- Maintain musical instruments, equipment, and instructional resources.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs.
- Integrate music from different cultures and historical periods to foster appreciation and global understanding.
- Participation in school events and collaboration with other staff to assist with projects/performances.
RequirementsQualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification/license in music education (or eligibility to obtain).
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably in a classroom setting.
- Proficiency in piano, vocal performance, and/or other instruments.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
