Job summary

Royal Oaks Elementary School is seeking a Temporary Lunchroom/Recess Paraprofessional for a long-term substitute assignment. The role focuses on large-group supervision during lunch and recess and maintaining a safe, positive environment for students in grades 5-12 program ranges.

The position starts ASAP and runs through December 22, 2026, or until the assignment ends. Starting pay is $21.93 per hour with potential increases for highly qualified status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Competencies as required by State of Minnesota, Federal government, and/or District 833.
• Proven teamwork, confidentiality, and communication skills.
• Demonstrates ability to supervise large groups of children up to 130.
• Current certification in first aid and CPR.
• Ability to use email, Internet, and Microsoft Word.

Responsibilities

• Familiarize students with behavioral guidelines and consequences for lunch/recess.
• Develop positive relationships with students to support learning and self-concept.
• Coordinate with kitchen, lunchroom, and staff to maintain a respectful work environment.
• Escort students to lunchrooms, restrooms, and nurse's office as needed.
• Provide on-site conflict resolution and refer incidents to the principal.
