Job summary

Austin Achieve Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Special Education Lifeskills Teacher to provide specialized instruction and supports for scholars with significant needs. The role focuses on accessing the curriculum, achieving individualized goals, and fostering independence in daily routines.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas teaching certificate required, including Special Education certification.
• Experience teaching scholars with significant disabilities and intensive support needs preferred.
• Experience with multilingual learners and scholars from historically underserved communities preferred.
• Knowledge of special education laws, instructional practices, behavior supports, and IEP implementation required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and delivers specially designed instruction aligned to each scholar’s IEP and goals.
• Develops individualized lessons and supports for scholars with significant needs.
• Creates a structured and safe classroom environment to foster learning.
• Implements accommodations, behavior supports, and personal care procedures per IEP.
• Participates in ARD/IEP meetings and progress monitoring.
• Maintains accurate documentation and collaborates with staff and families.
