Job summary

Bridges Public Charter School in Washington, DC is seeking an Elementary School Teacher to develop universally designed instruction for PK-5 learners. You will implement UDL-based curricula, assess progress, and work with Inclusion/ELL teams to support diverse students.

Responsibilities include engaging families weekly, collaborating with coaches, and upholding a culture of respect and equity. Salary ranges from $60,000 to $92,000 per year with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree (in Education, preferred).
• 1–2 years of teaching experience in an urban school setting (preferred).
• Knowledge of pedagogy and experience teaching in a constructivist way.
• Track record of being a team player and community-minded.

Responsibilities

• Create challenging, universally designed lessons that support learner variability.
• Use the UDL Framework to design curriculum standards-based units with differentiated instruction.
• Instruct and assess students in English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and/or Science.
• Assess student progress regularly and use data to plan instruction.
• Collaborate and co-teach with an Inclusion teacher, ELL Teacher, Assistant Teacher, Related Service Providers, etc.
• Work with Instructional Coaches to create inclusive and engaging lessons for all students.
• Create a classroom culture that practices Responsive Classroom techniques.
• Engage parents and families weekly in their students’ learning and act as an ambassador for the school in the community.
• Display student work based on current unit standards.
• Attend and participate in school events outside of regular school hours.
• Other curriculum/instruction/assessment duties as assigned.
