Job summary

Bridges Public Charter School is seeking a Special Education Lead Teacher for an elementary non-categorical self-contained classroom serving students with high-level needs for the 2026-2027 school year.

The role emphasizes collaboration with BCBA supervision, IEP development, data-driven progress, and strong family engagement to support inclusive learning and student growth in a high-demand urban environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's Degree in Elementary Education and/or Special Education preferred.
  • Certification in Special Education preferred.
  • Praxis SPED exams preferred.
  • 1–2 years of urban classroom teaching experience; 2+ years preferred.
  • Strong classroom management.
  • Commitment to a diverse student population.
  • Team player and community-minded.
  • Willingness to ABA/VB training.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Passion for public schools.
  • High professional and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage an elementary non-categorical self-contained classroom for high-need students and multiple assistants.
  • Develop and implement discrete trial instruction, social skills, and behavior plans with BCBA supervision.
  • Contribute to IEPs and progress reports.
  • Assess student progress using VBMAPP Milestones, Transitions, and Barriers assessments.
  • Collect data to monitor progress in curriculum, IEP, and ABA/VB.
  • Prepare quarterly progress reports and collaborate with service providers.
  • Coordinate with general education teachers to create inclusive learning opportunities.
  • Engage families and act as school ambassador in the community.
  • Attend school events and participate in related duties as assigned.
