Job summary

Sumter School District is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional to support teachers in delivering reading and mathematics instruction and to assist in maintaining a positive learning environment.

The role requires an associate degree or higher (or equivalent), with 60 credit hours or Praxis Para Pro as acceptable credentials. Experience in elementary settings is highly desired, with 185-day service and pay based on credentials and experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher required or 60 credit hours towards degree completion or Praxis Para Pro score.
• Minimum three years of elementary school experience is highly desired.
• Credential options must be verified per district policy.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the classroom teacher, helps maintain a positive learning environment.
• Assists with daily learning experiences aligned with grade-level practices and district mission.
• Collaborates with teachers to plan curriculum and address classroom needs.
• Provides accommodations for students as required.
• Promotes a safe, healthy learning environment and supportive classroom
• Works with others in a cooperative and respectful manner.
• Delivers individualized instruction to identified students and small groups in reading and math.
• Plans activities meeting students' needs, interests, and abilities in reading and math.
• Communicates student progress to teachers during interventions.
• Assist in collecting and retrieving student performance data for analysis.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or administrator.
