Elementary Instructional Coach (SY 26‑27)

Job Summary

Provides coaching and support to classroom teachers, ensuring continuous development of instructional skills and improving teaching and learning quality to meet campus, district, state accountability, and instructional goals.

Qualifications
  • Education/Certification: Master’s degree from an accredited university (Preferred); Valid Texas teaching certificate; Demonstrate competency in the core academic subject area (assigned)
  • Special Knowledge/Skills: Working professional knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices; Proven use of effective teaching strategies and curriculum‑based assessments; Knowledge of analyzing student achievement data and developing instructional plans; Ability to plan and facilitate professional development for adult learners; Strength in organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; Evidence‑based successful student achievement as a classroom teacher (STAAR/EOC)
  • Experience: Minimum three (3) years of evidence‑based successful student achievement data as a classroom teacher, plus experience as mentor teacher, team leader, or department chair, or in a teacher‑leadership role
Major Responsibilities and Duties

Staff Development

  • Collaborate with assigned classroom teachers to set realistic, measurable objectives related to professional development and student learning.
  • Support continuous professional growth through coaching, collaborative problem solving.
  • Build teacher capacity through frequent observation and coaching feedback to improve instruction and student achievement.
  • Assist campus administration in implementing and monitoring fidelity of assessments and instructional programs, integrating research‑based instructional strategies (RBIS).
  • Plan and provide upfront and ongoing professional development and targeted training aligned with campus goals and district initiatives.

Instructional and Program Management

  • Use observation and feedback evidence to differentiate coaching and support.
  • Use student achievement data to recommend improvements in purpose, design, materials, and implementation of instructional programs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to analyze and interpret student data, using findings to develop and apply effective Tier II and Tier III instruction.
  • Develop curricular or behavioral support materials as needed.
  • Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLC) meetings, providing guidance on best instructional practices (RBIS) and High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM).
  • Disseminate information on current research and developments at the state and national levels.

Other

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Establish cooperative relationships with campus and district staff while performing duties.
  • Compile, maintain, and file required reports, records, and documents.
  • Comply with policies of federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
  • Prolonged sitting, occasional bending, pushing, pulling, twisting.
  • Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and mouse use, occasional reaching.
  • Occasional light lifting and carrying (<15 lbs).
  • Work inside; frequent districtwide travel, occasional statewide travel.
  • Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
