Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher from an accredited college.
• 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from an accredited college.
• High school diploma/equivalent with a passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Must maintain a valid Georgia certificate through professional learning or college coursework and a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of reading, writing, and mathematics; ability to teach reading readiness and math readiness.
• Able to effectively use school technology including light typing and emailing.
• Experience in a licensed childcare environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in the classroom with instruction.
• Attend all school staff meetings and participate in professional development.
• Work cooperatively with teachers, administrators, and school stakeholders.
• Supervise students and promote social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.
• Serve as information source for substitutes and maintain program continuity.
• Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
• Communicate with clarity, using proper grammar in speech and writing.
• Provide feedback to the teacher and support small groups.
• Utilize special skills within the school program and perform duties assigned by administrators.
• Operate classroom equipment and participate in school improvement committees.
