Job summary

Richmond County School System seeks a Paraprofessional (General) to support classroom instruction under the supervision of the principal and teachers. The role is classified/non-contracted and grant-funded, with a 186-day (10-month) schedule in a school-based setting.

The ideal candidate will hold an associate degree or higher with required coursework, pass the GACE Paraprofessional exam (PRAXIS accepted if taken before 2007), and maintain a Georgia certificate and valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• An Associate Degree or higher (from an accredited college) with GPA 2.5 or higher or at least a 'C' average.
• 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours from an accredited college with GPA 2.5 or higher or at least a 'C' average.
• High school diploma/equivalent with a passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment. PRAXIS Paraprofessional Assessment accepted if before Mar 1, 2007.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher in the classroom with instruction.
• Promotes student development in social, emotional, intellectual, and physical areas.
• Participates in staff meetings and professional development as assigned by leadership.
• Works cooperatively with teachers, administrators, and stakeholders.
• Supervises students and supports learning activities in small groups or individually.
• Provides feedback to the teacher and supports class activities.
• Maintains confidentiality and ethical behavior regarding students.
• Uses proper grammar in communication, both oral and written.
• Operates classroom equipment for instructional use.
• Participates in school improvement by serving on committees as assigned.
