Job summary

Alpine School District is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional for First Grade I in Elementary education. This non-contract, non-benefit role offers 5.75 hours per day with an hourly rate that varies by lane.

An in-district training option can qualify the employee for lane advancement. The incumbent will support instructional programs, assist with implementing plans, monitor student behavior, and provide clerical support to teachers and staff, including supervision and care of students with

Qualifications

  • Age 16+
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must complete mandatory employee training within the first 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and IEP goals.
  • Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs of students.
  • Administers tests, homework, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom.
  • Assists data collection under the direction of the assigned teacher for the purpose of monitoring student progress.
  • Assists students with self-care activities for the purpose of maintaining students' personal hygiene.
  • Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching academic goals and grade level standards.
  • Attends job specific trainings and meetings for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
  • Communicates with supervising instructional staff for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP and/or 504 objectives.
  • Demonstrates appropriate role modeling for the purpose of guiding students in the development of appropriate social and interpersonal behavior.
  • Implements behavioral plans identified in student IEPs for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Maintains instructional materials and/or files and classroom equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; and/or meeting mandated requirements.
  • Monitors students during assigned periods in a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP and/or 504 plans; and ensuring student success in school.
  • Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
  • Supervises and escorts kids to/from classes for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment for students.
