Job summary

Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) seeks an Instructional Aide to support teachers and students at Hazel Grove Elementary. The role involves assisting with lessons, small-group instruction, and classroom activities to help all students meet grade-level objectives.

The incumbent will reinforce learning, supervise students, and help maintain organized learning environments in a busy urban school setting.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required and 48 college hours or an associate’s degree or higher.
Pass a State approved assessment (Workkeys, ParaPro, or Para Educator) or district credential test option.
Job related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
Conducts learning exercises with small groups.
Operates and cares for equipment or instructional materials.
Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual students.
Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction.
Assist teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
Assist with supervision of children during regular play periods, field trips, assemblies or emergency drills.
Other related classroom duties as assigned.
