Qualifications

• Ability to develop and implement an improvement plan for a student based upon his/her ability to communicate.
• Knowledge of child development and characteristics of ESL students.
• Knowledge of prescribed curriculum and current education research relating to ESL instruction.
• Basic understanding of technology and varied teaching methods.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging ESL instruction appropriate to students’ English proficiency and backgrounds.
• Develop and revise long-range and daily instructional plans aligned with curriculum guidelines.
• Assess student progress and communicate results to families and appropriate staff.
• Collaborate with families, teachers and professionals to support ESL student needs and IELP meetings.
