Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in the grade level, subject area(s) assigned.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, plan and provide instruction, and to manage data.
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum to the needs of students at the designated grade level(s).
• Effective interpersonal skills and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals, and priorities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of child development and characteristics of students in the age group assigned.
• Demonstrates knowledge of prescribed curriculum, current educational research, and technological tools.
• Implements best instructional practices and varied teaching methods to address student learning styles and outcomes.
• Uses technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
• Maintains safe and orderly environment for learning.
• Provides instruction and modifications for students with special needs, including ELL.
• Establishes routines and uses behavior management techniques.
• Creates a positive, safe learning climate for all students.
• Develops and uses assessment strategies to monitor learner progress and program evaluation.
• Participates in state/standardized testing administration and test security.
• Organizes procedures/materials/routines for effective use of instructional time.
• Interprets and uses data for diagnosis and instructional planning.
• Communicates timely information on student progress to parents/guardians.
• Encourages critical/creative thinking and student responsibility.
