Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in the grade level, subject area(s) assigned.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of child development and characteristics of students in the assigned age group.
• Utilizes technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
• Models appropriate and innovative use of technology for students.
• Maintains appropriate student supervision for a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Provides instruction and modifications for students with special or diverse needs, including ELL and exceptional education students.
• Selects, develops, modifies and adapts materials to address learning styles and needs.
• Organizes procedures, materials, and routines for effective instructional time.
• Instructs and supervises student teachers, volunteers and paraprofessionals when assigned.
• Uses ongoing assessment to monitor progress and uses data for planning and evaluation.
• Communicates information about student progress to students, parents and colleagues.
• Engages in professional growth and adheres to professional standards and ethics.
