The role involves assisting with lesson planning, providing individual and small group support, maintaining records, supervising during school time, and handling various duties as assigned by the principal or superintendent. This is a part-time, classified position with 7.5 hours per day and 154 contract days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of college or an associate’s degree or higher, or ability to obtain a para-educator certificate.
• Must be able to obtain para-educator certificate in reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Prior work with special education students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group support of special education students within classrooms and the special education room under guidance.
• Assist the teacher in lesson planning as directed.
• Perform instructional activities under supervision of the classroom teacher.
• Maintain records and prepare reports as assigned.
• Supervise students on the playground during school time.
• Use appropriate methods for student management and control.
• Cover for the Secretary in the building office as assigned.
• Report disciplinary issues/concerns or accidents to the building principal.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal or Superintendent.
