Job summary

Mapleton is seeking an Educational Assistant for an Elementary School to support special education students in the classroom and related settings. Duties include assisting with lesson planning, providing targeted support, and supervising students during recess and transitions.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, with two years of college or an equivalent para-educator credential. Prior SPED experience is preferred and the role may involve lifting up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of college study; or an Associate’s degree; or para-educator certificate.
• Experience with special education students is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group support for special education students.
• Assist the teacher in lesson planning.
• Perform instructional activities under supervision.
• Maintain records and prepare reports.
• Supervise students on the playground.
• Covers for the Secretary in the building office as assigned.
• Promptly report any disciplinary issues/concerns or accidents to the building principal.
