Job summary

Rochester Public Schools seeks a paraprofessional to assist classroom teachers in supporting elementary students with daily activities and learning tasks.

The position provides part-time hours (4.5 hours/day, 8:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.), Monday–Friday, on a 180-day calendar. Responsibilities include supervising students during lunch and recess, and collaborating with staff to create a positive, safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with elementary age students preferred.
• Computer skills may be required or preferred.
• Flexibility and ability to work as a cooperative team member.
• Ability to build positive rapport with children and correct behavior fairly.

Responsibilities

• Assist students under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
• May monitor and supervise students in lunchroom and playground.
• Perform tasks within the level of responsibility assigned by the supervisor.
