Job summary

Waukee Community School District is hiring a Day Custodian for Waukee Elementary in Iowa. The role involves performing daily custodial tasks, maintaining cleanliness across classrooms and facilities, and assisting in equipment use and inventory.

Immediate start with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork. The position requires a High School Diploma (preferred) and custodial experience; 0–2 years is required, 3–5 years preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Custodial experience 0-2 years required, 3-5 years preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, building administrators, co-workers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily custodial tasks: vacuuming, trash removal, stocking supplies, sweeping, mopping, floor cleaning, restrooms, and lunchroom cleanup.
• Clean up spills promptly (including bodily fluids).
• Verify evening schedule and print for night staff.
• Maintain safe walkways with snow shovel, snow blower, and ice melt in winter.
• Assist with unlocking doors, minor equipment repair, and moving materials per work orders.
• Assist in custodial supplies inventory and organizing workspace.
• Assist in training new custodial staff.
• Complete monthly task list including preventative maintenance.
