Job summary

Waukee Elementary is seeking a Night Custodian for the Waukee Community School District Operations Facility in Waukee, Iowa. The role starts immediately and involves cleaning, stocking, and maintaining safety—supporting students and staff after hours.

The position requires a high school diploma (preferred) and 0-2 years custodial experience (3-5 preferred), with strong communication skills for interactions with students, teachers, and administrators.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• 0-2 years custodial experience required; 3-5 years preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, building administrators, co-workers and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned building daily tasks: vacuuming, trash removal, stocking supplies, sweeping, mopping, floor cleaning, restrooms, lunch room cleanup; some buildings may include laundry; follow chemical and PPE instructions.
• Clean spills promptly throughout the building, including bodily fluids.
• Verify evening schedule and print for night staff.
• Maintain safe walkways using snow shovel/snow blower/ice melt in winter.
• Assist with opening doors, minor equipment repair, and moving materials as needed; may submit tickets for in-depth repairs.
• Assist in custodial supplies inventory and organizing workspace; assist in training new custodial staff.
• Complete monthly tasks and preventative maintenance such as fire extinguishers and floor scrubbers.
