Job summary

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Certification as a School Counselor by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
• Preference for advanced degree training in guidance.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of theories of intellectual, social, and emotional development.
• Familiarity with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and ASCA standards.
• Ten hours beyond bachelor's in counseling or allied subject.

Responsibilities

• Counsel whole class, small groups and individual students.
• Provide developmentally appropriate guidance lessons in classroom and large groups.
• Coordinate and implement a comprehensive school counseling program.
• Consult with teachers, staff and parents regarding student needs.
• Maintain records of interactions, interventions and decisions.
• Refer students and families to community resources as needed.
