Job summary

Mason Public Schools is seeking an Elementary School Counselor to support students in grades 1-5 with their academic, social, and emotional growth. You will provide individual and group counseling and work with a multidisciplinary team to foster an inclusive, positive climate where every child feels safe and valued.

The role requires a Master’s in Guidance and Counseling or equivalent licensure, with California/MI teaching certification or licenses as specified.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling required from an accredited institution.
• Valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate with counseling endorsement (NT) or equivalent licensure.
• School Counselor License, Preliminary Authorization, or Temporary Authorization required.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling services to students or groups for personal, social, academic, and family concerns.
• Collaborate with School Social Workers, District Mental Health Specialist, School Nurses, Behavior Support Specialists, and Restorative Justice Staff.
• Maintain confidential student records and referrals.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Support students’ social/emotional development and academic success.
• Familiarity with Comprehensive Guidance and crisis management skills.
• Identify students in need and coordinate with community resources.
