Job summary

Miami Public Schools is seeking a Behavioral Intervention Support Team member for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports elementary students with BIST strategies to promote self-regulation and successful reintegration into class.

Requires strong classroom management, communication, and the ability to collaborate with teachers and families. Qualifications include a Oklahoma Teaching Certificate preferred and experience in education; BIST training is a plus.

Qualifications

• Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate preferred.
• Experience in education preferred.
• Training in BIST (Behavior Intervention Support Team) encouraged.
• Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, flexibility and calm under pressure.
• Ability to multitask and support multiple student needs.

Responsibilities

• Implements BIST strategies to support behavior and emotional regulation.
• Provides direct instruction and support to students with behavioral challenges.
• Maintains a structured, safe, supportive learning environment.
• Collaborates with teachers to create behavior intervention plans and reintegration strategies.
• Communicates progress with teachers, parents, and administrators.
• Facilitates virtual learning opportunities when needed.
• Maintains documentation of interventions, progress, and communications.
• Models patience, empathy and consistency in interactions.
• Assists in de‑escalation of behavioral situations per district practices.
• Participates in professional development on behavior support and trauma-informed practices.
• Attends faculty and team meetings; contributes to collaboration.
• Completes reports and school paperwork timely.
• Performs other duties as assigned by administration.
