Job summary

The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro seeks a Youth Development Professional – Elementary to guide after-school programming at Grant Elementary School. You’ll supervise, motivate, and mentor middle school youth, delivering engaging activities that promote academics and social-emotional growth in a safe, inclusive setting.

This part-time, on-site role follows the school calendar with after-school hours 1:00–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday; summer camp opportunities may arise based on program

Qualifications

• Entry-level role with no prior youth experience required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Demonstrates high emotional intelligence and integrity.
• Ability to connect authentically with a diverse group of youth.
• Ability to independently supervise a group of youth.

Responsibilities

• Engaging Supervision – Create a safe, structured, and welcoming environment where all youth feel supported.
• Facilitate Engaging Activities – Lead after-school programs that promote learning, creativity, and social development.
• Adapt and Implement Lessons – Deliver curriculum-based activities while meeting diverse needs.
• Create a Positive Learning Environment – Establish clear expectations, routines, and behavior management.
• Build Positive Relationships – Mentor youth and recognize individual strengths.
• Manage Daily Operations – Oversee transitions, meals, and lessons for a smooth flow.
• Collaborate with Your Team – Work with colleagues to improve activities and meet goals.
• Be Flexible and Support Where Needed – Assist at different sites as program needs require.
