Job summary

Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro is seeking a Youth Development Professional - Elementary to create a safe, engaging after-school environment for middle school youth. You will mentor participants, support academic and social-emotional growth, and help deliver curriculum-based activities.

This on-site, part-time role at Grant Elementary School offers hands-on experience, teamwork, and opportunities to contribute to high-quality after-school programming in a dynamic, supportive setting.

Qualifications

No prior experience required; entry-level role.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
High emotional intelligence and integrity.
Ability to connect authentically with a diverse group of youth.
Ability to independently supervise a group of youth.
Patience and the ability to work under pressure in emotionally charged situations.

Responsibilities

Engaging supervision in a safe, structured environment.
Lead engaging after-school programs that promote learning, creativity, and social development.
Deliver curriculum-based activities while adapting approaches to meet youth needs.
Establish clear expectations, routines, and behavior management strategies.
Foster trust and inclusion through mentoring and encouraging participation.
Oversee transitions, meals, and lessons for smooth program flow.
Collaborate with teammates to improve activities and program goals.
Step in to support at different sites as needed.
