Job summary

Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro is seeking a Youth Development Professional - Elementary to create a safe, engaging after-school space for youth at Grant Elementary School. You will guide activities, support academics, and promote social-emotional growth in a school-based setting.

The role emphasizes mentorship, teamwork, and contributions to a high-quality youth program with a focus on inclusivity. Work is on-site with a schedule of 1:00–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• No prior experience working with youth is required.
• Candidate must be at least 18 years old.
• High emotional intelligence and integrity are essential.
• Ability to connect authentically with a diverse group of youth.
• Ability to independently supervise a group of youth.

Responsibilities

• Engaging supervision in a safe, structured, welcoming environment.
• Lead after-school activities promoting learning, creativity, and social development.
• Deliver curriculum-based activities and adapt as needed for elementary-aged students.
• Establish routines and behavior management for a positive learning space.
• Mentor youth, foster inclusion, and recognise individual strengths.
• Oversee transitions, meals, and lesson flow to keep programs on track.
• Collaborate with teammates to improve activities and share best practices.
• Be flexible to support across sites and extra duties as needed.
