Youth Development Professional – Elementary will work primarily at Garfield Elementary in San Leandro, delivering safe, engaging after-school programs for middle school youth. You’ll mentor students, support academic and social-emotional growth, and help create a positive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required—entry-level role.
• Must be at least 18 years old to be eligible.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Ability to independently supervise a group of youth.
• Patience and the ability to work under pressure in emotionally charged situations.

Responsibilities

• Engaging supervision to create a safe, structured, welcoming environment.
• Facilitate engaging after-school activities promoting learning and social development.
• Adapt and implement lessons to meet elementary-aged students' needs.
• Create a positive learning environment with clear routines and behavior management.
• Build positive relationships and mentor youth, recognizing individual strengths.
• Manage daily operations including transitions, meals, and lessons.
• Collaborate with teammates to improve activities and meet program goals.
• Be flexible and support at different sites as needed.
