Job summary

The Educational Alliance is seeking a part-time After School Acrobatics Teacher for the 14Y program in New York City. You will design and lead 45-minute acrobatics classes for groups up to 18 elementary students, fostering skill development, confidence, and safe practice.

Responsibilities include planning weekly lessons, differentiating instruction, and coordinating with the program manager to ensure a welcoming, organized classroom and timely delivery of activities.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary school-aged children.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in acrobatics, tumbling, gymnastics, or related movement disciplines.
• Experience teaching gymnastics, acrobatics, tumbling, dance, or other movement-based classes to children is preferred.
• Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with children and colleagues from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability to work from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at least one day per week, preferably Tuesdays.
• Availability to commit to the first half of the After School programmatic year: Sep 14, 2026 – Jan 22, 2027 and Jan 25 – Jun 4, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Submit weekly lesson plans to the After School Program Manager using the provided template.
• Develop and facilitate engaging 45-minute weekly Acrobatics classes for groups of up to 18 students, organized by age and inclusive of varying needs and abilities.
• Design progressive lessons that build acrobatics, tumbling, and gymnastics skills over an 8-week enrichment quarter.
• Teach age-appropriate foundational and advanced skills in acrobatics, tumbling, and gymnastics, with emphasis on technique and safety.
• Differentiate instruction to support students with varying levels of experience and ability.
• Create opportunities for practice through drills, circuits, partner work, and games.
• Communicate supply or material needs for upcoming lessons to the After School Program Manager in advance.
