Job summary

Educational Alliance in New York invites an enthusiastic After School Chess Teacher to design and deliver engaging chess programming for elementary students in the East Village. This part-time role supports neurodiverse learners, fostering focus, strategy, and confidence after school.

The teacher will run 45-minute classes, adapt lessons for up to 18 students, submit weekly plans, and collaborate with the After School Program Manager to ensure a joyful, inclusive learning environment from 3:30

Qualifications

• Experience with elementary school children.
• Experience teaching chess classes preferred.
• Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with diverse backgrounds.
• Availability from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at least one day per week.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement engaging 45-minute weekly chess classes for groups up to 18.
• Teach chess fundamentals and strategy to varying skill levels.
• Differentiate instruction to support beginners to advanced.
• Submit weekly lesson plans to the After School Program Manager.
• Maintain a welcoming, organized classroom and supplies.
