Job summary

Kentwood Public Schools invites applications for an Academic Interventionist at Glenwood Elementary School. This 38 week position supports reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction and other skills, both individually and in small groups, to reinforce foundational learning, monitor progress, and implement prescribed instructional programs with students who need extra support.

The essential duties include assisting teachers with instructional activities, preparing and distributing

Qualifications

• Minimum 90 college credits from an accredited college or university.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid Michigan teacher’s certificate preferred.
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
• Understanding of curriculum development processes or willingness to learn.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, students, and administration.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement programs.
• Assist with administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Prepare and distribute educational materials and support instructional strategies.
• Document student learning and performance; assist with attendance and records.
• Support classroom behavioral management and supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Participate in IEP processes as needed to support students with special needs.
