Job Summary and Qualifications
The EP Lab Tech assists in all procedures performed in the EP area. The EP Technologist requires detailed knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, disease processes and principles of cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional technology in a safe patient care. It demonstrates an expert knowledge of radiological equipment and safety, shielding techniques, expert imaging skills and X-ray equipment troubleshooting skills, analyzing, 3D mapping and recording equipment and other equipment utilized in the Electrophysiology Lab, and performs unit-based activities, which contribute to a positive and professional work environment. The EP Technologist demonstrates the ability to function in all of the positions with the exception of nursing. Essential information is shared through documentation and verbal communication.
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of cardiovascular technology is required.
- High School Graduate / GED
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- (ARRT-R) Radiography, or (RCES) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, or (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
