EP Lab Technologist — Cardiac Electrophysiology Procedures

Job Summary

As an Electrophysiology Lab Technologist (EP Tech) you are responsible for providing a safe patient care environment that aids in the diagnosis and treatment of patients experiencing cardiac procedures. You will maintain and operate the physiological systems, assist physicians during procedures, and perform unit‑based activities which contribute to a positive and professional work environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate familiarity with the basics of radiation and radiation safety.
• Position x‑ray camera for fluoroscopy/angiography.
• Pant to accurately visualize requested/appropriate views.
• Perform daily checks to ensure proper equipment function.
• Demonstrate sterile technique for handling sterile instruments/supplies.
• Proficiently enter data on the EP Hemodynamic Monitoring system.
• Assist with monitoring patient condition throughout procedure including rhythm, vital signs, response to interventions, and arterial lines.
• Document required procedure steps, supplies used and patient condition into the medical record throughout the case.
• Communicate with the circulating nurse regarding supplies used for patient charge ticket and verify accuracy.
• Monitor patients in holding area as assigned.
• Proficiently remove sheaths and hold pressure to achieve hemostasis.
• Demonstrate proficiency with equipment in the EP Lab.

Qualifications

• One to three years of Electrophysiology or Cardiac Cath Lab experience performing both diagnostic and interventional procedures – preferred.

Education

• Graduate of a Cardiovascular Technologist program or a Radiologic Technology program – preferred.
• High School Graduate or GED – required.

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – preferred.
• Registered Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) – preferred.
• Operating Room Technician – preferred.
• BLS Certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy.
