Job summary

The AIRO Group is seeking an Electronics Test Technician to test and troubleshoot PCBs and CCAs using drawings, schematics, and test equipment. You will isolate failures, identify suspect components, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure repaired assemblies function correctly.

Responsibilities include documenting test results, developing troubleshooting guides, and maintaining an orderly ESD‑safe lab.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience testing and troubleshooting electronic assemblies.
  • Experience troubleshooting PCBs or CCAs beyond basic board replacement or pass/fail testing.
  • Ability to use electrical schematics and test measurements to isolate faults.
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital circuits.
  • Proficient with DMMs and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with SMT and through‑hole assemblies.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, PCB layouts and BOMs.
  • Use test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, generators, logic analyzers) to measure voltages, signals and power rails.
  • Identify failed components and provide repair or rework guidance.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and test results.
  • Maintain clean, ESD‑safe work area and follow safety/regulatory requirements.

Position Overview:

The Electronics Test Technician will test and troubleshoot printed circuit boards and circuit card assemblies using engineering drawings, electrical schematics, test procedures, component datasheets, and electronic test equipment.

The primary focus of this position is systematically isolating failures and identifying failed or suspect components so accurate repair and rework instructions can be provided. The technician will work with Engineering, Quality, Production, and outside repair suppliers to improve repair accuracy and verify that reworked assembly's function correctly.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tests and troubleshoots PCBs and CCAs to isolate failures at the circuit or component level
  • Reads and interprets electrical schematics, engineering drawings, PCB layouts, bills of material, test procedures, and component datasheets
  • Uses digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, signal generators, logic analyzers, and other electronic test equipment
  • Measures and evaluates voltages, resistance, continuity, waveforms, signals, power rails, clocks, and communication circuits
  • Compares failed assemblies with known-good assemblies and documented test requirements
  • Identifies failed or suspect components and provides clear repair or rework instructions
  • Verifies repaired assemblies through inspection and functional testing
  • Documents troubleshooting steps, measurements, identified defects, repair recommendations, and final test results
  • Assists with developing and improving troubleshooting guides, test procedures, and test fixtures
  • Communicates recurring component, manufacturing, supplier, or design issues to Engineering and management
  • Performs soldering, component replacement, and minor electronic rework when appropriate
  • Maintains an organized and ESD-safe electronics work area
  • Follows company quality procedures, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Reports problems with quality, processes, equipment, or materials to the Manufacturing Manager
  • Performs other activities as needed and requested
Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of experience testing and troubleshooting electronic assemblies
  • Experience troubleshooting PCBs or CCAs beyond basic board replacement or pass/fail testing
  • Ability to use electrical schematics and test measurements to isolate faults
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuits
  • Proficiency using digital multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Experience using bench power supplies, signal generators, logic analyzers, or similar equipment preferred
  • Ability to identify shorts, open circuits, incorrect voltages, missing signals, damaged components, and other common electronic failures
  • Ability to clearly document troubleshooting results and recommended corrective actions
  • Experience with surface-mount and through-hole electronic assemblies
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with Engineering, Quality, Production, suppliers, and management
  • Windows PC and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Avionics, aerospace, defense, or other regulated electronics experience preferred
  • IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001, or IPC‑7711/7721 certification preferred
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Technical certificate, associate degree, military electronics training, or equivalent hands‑on electronics experience preferred
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform work requiring manual dexterity and use of the hands.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, reach above and below the shoulders, and use the upper extremities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely, as required.
  • Ability to move throughout an approximately 45,000-square-foot warehouse and facility.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions.
  • Correctable vision and hearing.
