Job summary

Kearfott Corporation in New Jersey seeks an Electronics Test Equipment Technician to support troubleshooting, repair, and reliability of advanced laser manufacturing equipment. The role requires hands-on electronics work, reading schematics, and applying IPC J-STD-001 standards in a cross-functional engineering/technician team.

Ideal candidates bring 10 years in electronics assembly and repair, experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB or Python, soldering, and a US citizenship.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in electronics assembly and repair.
  • Experience with programming languages for test software development (LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python).
  • Experience with hand-work electronics assembly in IPC J-STD-001 environment.
  • Capable of working independently and in a cross-functional team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot test equipment electronics and control software.

Electronics Test Equipment Technician
Position Description

The Electronics Test Equipment Technician will support the troubleshooting, improvement, and long-term reliability of advanced laser manufacturing equipment. This role is multidisciplinary and requires expertise spanning instrumentation electronics, motion/control systems, vacuum hardware and controls, and software used for automated test and measurement. The ideal candidate has direct experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and applying those schematics to real-world, hands-on electronics repairs.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting of problems with the test equipment electronics and control software.
  • Read and interpret existing schematics for the electro-mechanical components in these systems.
  • Perform electronics repair in accordance with industry standards (IPC J-STD-001).
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of test equipment and subcomponents.
  • Create and update standard operating procedures for the day-to-day use of these systems.
  • Train technicians and engineers to carry out documented operating procedures.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • 10 years’ experience in electronics assembly and repair
  • Experience with one or more programming languages for test software development (Labview, MATLAB, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with hand-work electronics assembly (i.e., soldering, building electronics to printed circuit schematics etc.) in IPC J-STD-001 environment
  • Capable of working independently as well as within a cross-functional team of both engineers and technicians.
  • Detail-oriented and demonstrated background in electronics repair and maintenance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or the physical sciences
  • Prior experience with vacuum systems and controls
  • Experience in plasma physics, lasers and optics, or material science.
  • Familiarity with electrical design software
  • Previous experience working in cleanrooms (ISO Class 4 through Class 7).

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey is $35.00 – $55.00 Hourly. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, and internal consistency.
