Job summary

Pixels on Target LLC is seeking an experienced Electronics Technician III to support Hardware Engineering and Production teams in development, verification, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced electronic systems.

The role involves working closely with engineers during new product development, performing board bring-up, testing, soldering, and documentation in a fast-paced environment with evolving designs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support electrical and hardware engineers during prototype development, board bring-up, integration, and testing.
• Perform initial power-up and verification of newly assembled PCBs.
• Assist with PCB bring-up, including verification of power rails, clocks, reset signals, interfaces.
• Troubleshoot analog, digital, power, and mixed-signal circuits.
• Identify failures using schematics, test equipment, and documentation.
• Modify components, perform rework as directed by engineering.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Electronics Technician III to support both our Hardware Engineering and Production teams in the development, verification, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair of advanced electronic systems.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly skilled with electronics, comfortable working directly with printed circuit boards and prototype hardware, and capable of diagnosing problems down to the component level. The technician will work closely with electrical engineers during new product development while also supporting production with board verification, failure analysis, rework, soldering, and electronics assembly.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment where designs are evolving and rapid troubleshooting is critical.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Engineering Support

• Support electrical and hardware engineers during prototype development, board bring-up, integration, and testing.
• Perform initial power-up and verification of newly assembled printed circuit boards.
• Assist with PCB bring-up, including verification of power rails, clocks, reset signals, communication interfaces, and other critical circuitry.
• Troubleshoot analog, digital, power, and mixed-signal electronic circuits.
• Identify board-level and component-level failures using schematics, test equipment, and engineering documentation.
• Perform modifications, component replacements, jumper-wire changes, and prototype rework as directed by engineering.
• Build and modify cables, harnesses, test fixtures, prototype assemblies, and development hardware.
• Provide feedback to engineers regarding manufacturability, testability, component issues, and recurring hardware failures.

Production Support

• Support production with troubleshooting, repair, and verification of electronic assemblies and completed systems.
• Diagnose failures on production PCBs and electronic assemblies.
• Perform functional testing and verification of production hardware.
• Support root-cause analysis of production failures and recurring defects.
• Assist with development and improvement of production test procedures and fixtures.
• Perform electronics assembly, including installation of PCBs, wiring, connectors, cables, and other electronic components.
• Support manufacturing and quality teams in resolving technical issues that impact production flow or yield.
• Perform high-quality through-hole and surface-mount soldering and rework.
• Remove and replace electronic components, including ICs, connectors, resistors, capacitors, and other PCB-mounted devices.
• Perform fine-pitch component rework and board modifications as required.
• Assemble electronic and electromechanical systems according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Inspect solder joints, PCB assemblies, connectors, and wiring for workmanship and defects.
• Follow proper ESD handling procedures when working with sensitive electronic components.

Test & Troubleshooting

• Use oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment to troubleshoot electronic systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, PCB documentation, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications.
• Perform continuity, voltage, current, signal integrity, and functional testing.
• Troubleshoot communication interfaces and peripheral devices as required.
• Document test results, failures, repairs, modifications, and corrective actions.
• Assist engineering with environmental, functional, and system-level testing when required.

Quality & Documentation

• Maintain accurate records of repairs, troubleshooting activities, test results, and hardware modifications.
• Follow company quality procedures, engineering change processes, and manufacturing work instructions.
• Follow applicable ESD, IPC, safety, and workmanship standards.
• Identify recurring hardware or production issues and support corrective-action and continuous-improvement efforts.
• Assist in creating and updating test procedures, assembly instructions, troubleshooting guides, and other technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in electronics testing, troubleshooting, repair, manufacturing support, or a similar technical role.
• Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics.
• Strong PCB-level troubleshooting and component identification skills.
• Demonstrated experience with PCB soldering, component-level repair, and electronic rework.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• IPC soldering or rework certification, such as IPC J-STD-001 or IPC-7711/7721.
• Experience with prototype PCB bring-up and new product introduction (NPI).
• Experience supporting electrical engineers during hardware development.
• Experience with RF electronics, embedded systems, imaging systems, sensors, or low-voltage electronics.
• Experience building and troubleshooting cables and wiring harnesses.
• Familiarity with automated test equipment.
• Experience in a regulated, aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing environment.
• Military electronics or avionics experience.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or ISO quality systems.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on electronics troubleshooter and builder who enjoys working directly with hardware. You should be equally comfortable supporting an engineer bringing up a new PCB, diagnosing a production board that failed functional test, soldering a fine-pitch component, assembling prototype electronics, or using an oscilloscope to determine why a circuit is not operating as expected.

This is a technical, hands-on role for someone who takes ownership of problems and works closely with engineering and production teams to get hardware built, debugged, verified, and ready to ship.
