Job summary

HRU-Tech is seeking an Electronics Engineering Technician for a fully onsite role with standard business hours. You will provide hands-on support for assembly, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and validation of electronic components, boards, and systems.

The ideal candidate has hands-on electronics experience including surface-mount rework, schematic interpretation, and proficiency with lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes and power supplies.

Qualifications

  • SMT/SMD rework experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics.
  • Hands-on proficiency with electronic laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic components, circuit boards, and systems.
  • Perform surface-mount soldering and rework on fine-pitch components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and engineering documentation.
  • Conduct hardware testing using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, data acquisition systems).
  • Conduct thermal and environmental testing in environmental test chambers.
  • Support EMI/EMC testing and apply standard test methods.
  • Prepare prototypes and test samples for engineering evaluation and validation.
  • Maintain accurate test records and instrument calibration status.

Position Summary

The Electronics Engineering Technician will provide hands-on technical support for the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and validation of electronic components, circuit boards, and systems.

This position will work closely with engineering teams to support product development, hardware validation, environmental testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on electronics experience, including surface-mount rework, schematic interpretation, and proficiency with electronic laboratory test equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic components, circuit boards, and systems.
  • Perform surface-mount soldering and rework, including work with fine-pitch electronic components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and engineering documentation.
  • Perform hardware testing using equipment including:
  • Oscilloscopes
  • Power supplies
  • AC/DC loads and sources
  • Signal generators
  • Data acquisition systems
  • Other electronic laboratory test equipment
  • Conduct thermal and environmental testing, including operation of environmental test chambers.
  • Support EMI/EMC testing and apply applicable test methods and best practices.
  • Prepare prototypes and test samples for engineering evaluation and validation.
  • Install probes and instrumentation required for testing and data collection.
  • Build and modify wire harnesses and related electrical assemblies.
  • Develop and modify test fixtures to support product and component testing.
  • Verify equipment calibration status prior to testing.
  • Execute tests in accordance with approved procedures, work instructions, and engineering requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret test data.
  • Document test results and prepare technical reports, findings, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate test records, equipment logs, and laboratory documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot electronic hardware and identify potential failure modes.
  • Support engineering root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities.
  • Assist with product development, validation prototype, and qualification testing as required.
  • Maintain an organized and safe electronics laboratory environment.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related electrical/engineering discipline.
  • Hands-on professional experience working with electronic hardware, circuit boards, testing, troubleshooting, or related electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated surface-mount soldering and rework capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and related technical documentation.
  • Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other electronic laboratory test equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic hardware and identify potential component- or circuit-level issues.
  • Strong attention to detail when executing tests, documenting results, and performing electronic rework.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers and other technical team members in a laboratory environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience performing fine-pitch electronic component soldering and rework.
  • Experience with AC/DC loads and sources, signal generators, and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience conducting thermal or environmental testing.
  • Experience operating environmental chambers.
  • Exposure to EMI/EMC testing.
  • Experience building or modifying wire harnesses and test fixtures.
  • Experience supporting engineering validation, product development, or root-cause analysis.
  • Experience working from formal test procedures and maintaining technical test documentation.

Surface-Mount Rework: Performs precise soldering, component removal, replacement, and rework on surface-mount and fine-pitch electronic assemblies.

Schematic Interpretation: Reads and understands electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical documentation to support testing and troubleshooting.

Test & Data Documentation: Accurately executes test procedures, records results, evaluates test data, and maintains complete laboratory and equipment documentation.

Engineering Collaboration: Works closely with engineers to support prototype development, validation testing, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and product improvement.
