Job summary

Five Star Management seeks an Electronics Technician to install, maintain and repair electronic equipment in our Houston manufacturing operations. You will work on automation systems, troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs, read schematics, and support TP/M maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operation.

The role requires 3+ years in industrial electronics, ability to use testing instruments, and strong teamwork. Bilingual is a plus. The work is on the manufacturing floor with PPE required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance according to standardized procedures.
• Interact with operators, supervisors, and co-workers in a team-oriented fashion.
• Read electrical/electronic schematics and manuals; use MS Office; research manuals online.
• Assert extensive knowledge of PLCs, AC/DC drives, and HMIs.
• Troubleshoot faults using instruments, blueprints, and PLC ladder diagrams up to 480V.
• Repair boards to component level and keep fault logs in a database.
• Navigate machine systems to check operating parameters and setup as needed.
• Program PLCs and HMIs; drive setup; support downtime reduction in production.
• Perform tasks with urgency and accuracy while meeting standards.

Job Details

Job Location: Houston, TX 77041. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electronic equipment used in our manufacturing operations, mainly in automation equipment. This position will ensure that all electrical and electronic systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with our company standards.

DESCRIPTION

• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance. Perform preventive, predictive maintenance and total productive maintenance in accordance with standardized procedures.
• Be able to interact with operators, supervisors, co-workers in a team-oriented fashion towards a common goal.
• Ability to adjust to changing needs of a fast-paced manufacturing environment, read electrical and electronic schematics, understand technical books and manuals, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, able to research in the Internet for manuals and instructions from components manufacturers.
• Extensive working knowledge of PLC’s, AC and DC drives, Human Machine Interfaces, etc.
• Troubleshoot faults and breakdowns using instruments, blueprints, manuals, manufacturer specifications, machine diagnosis, control parameters, PLC ladder diagrams and experience working with machine voltages up to 480 volts.
• Electronics experience and capable of repairing boards to the component level.
• Keep records of faults and alarm by date, machine number in computer database.
• Be able to navigate in the machine system to check operating parameters, and general set up if needed.
• Programming ability for PLC’s and HMI’s, and drives set up.
• Troubleshoot downtime in support to production and meet standards.
• Perform all tasks with a sense of urgency and accuracy.

COMPETENCIES

• Certification in Electronics Engineering or Associate Degree in Electronics technologies is required.

Qualifications: EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience as electronics technician or similar role.
• A minimum of 3 years of industrial electronics experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for problem solving.
• Competence in operating hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Ability of repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, carrying, going up and down ladders/steps.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• The work primarily performed on the manufacturing floor, which may involve exposure to loud noises, machinery, high or low temperatures and chemicals.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is always required.
