Job summary

Superior Essex Communications is seeking an Electronics Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and install production equipment. The role covers maintenance on electrical/electronic components, motors, motor drives, and related hardware, plus preventive maintenance and routine servicing of electronic gear.

The technician will repair and calibrate equipment, assist with new installations, and support engineering with parts requests and cost/safety proposals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with two or more years of technical training or equivalent education/experience.
  • Technical experience in electrical/electronic systems is required.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools and electronic troubleshooting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs production and spare equipment when electrical/electronic failure occurs, including minor soldering, alignment, grinding, disassembly and reassembly of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment by observing operation from an electrical perspective.
  • Designs, fabricates, assembles and installs parts or assemblies as requested by Engineering or Department managers.
  • Initiates parts requests to obtain electronic supplies needed for repairs or installations.
  • Inspects and calibrates production equipment and documents drawings, layouts, time sheets, work orders and cost or safety proposals.

Position Overview

This position handles general repair work and maintenance on all electrical/electronic components, motors, motor drives, and associated hardware, assists with the assembly and installation of new equipment. This position performs routine preventive maintenance and servicing tasks such as cleaning, adjusting and inspections on electronic equipment.

This position handles general repair work and maintenance on all electrical/electronic components, motors, motor drives, and associated hardware, assists with the assembly and installation of new equipment. This position performs routine preventive maintenance and servicing tasks such as cleaning, adjusting and inspections on electronic equipment.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Repairs production and spare equipment when failure is of an electrical or electronic nature, which requires the ability to do minor soldering, alignment, grinding, disassembly and reassembly of both major, minor, large and small pieces of equipment.

  • Helps troubleshoot equipment by observing equipment operation from an electronic perspective

  • Designs, fabricates, assembles and installs, parts, fixtures or entire assemblies as requested by Engineering or Department managers

  • Initiates necessary parts request form for required electronic supplies so repairs or installations can be completed

  • Inspects and calibrates various pieces of production equipment and requires documentation of drawings, layouts, time sheets, work orders and cost reduction or safety proposals


Education Requirements


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent with two or more years of technical training or school within the field, or equivalent education and experience
