The University of Iowa Health Care department of Engineering Services is seeking an Electronics Tech I for a full-time shift from 3:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Wednesday through Saturday, including weekends and holidays as scheduled for on-call.

This role involves building, repairing, and maintaining electronic equipment used for instruction, research, and patient care. Under supervision, you will calibrate, modify, and perform preventative maintenance on diverse equipment, including diagnostic

Qualifications

  • Two-year electronics trade school or equivalent training/experience.
  • Experience in building or repairing electronic equipment used for instruction/research.
  • Ability to prepare schematic and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Builds custom electronic equipment according to designs prepared by engineers or supervisory personnel.
  • Repairs developmental and production electronic equipment such as computers oscilloscopes and X-ray equipment.
  • Modifies functions of various equipment to conform to specific requirements.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and electronic instruments.
  • Calibrates and adjusts electronic equipment to insure optimum performance.
  • Attends conferences and workshops to keep abreast of developments in the field.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems and electrical systems.
  • Install, repair, and maintain pneumatic tube systems used for internal communication of documents and materials.
