The University of Iowa Health Care Bioengineering is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician Trainee to test, calibrate, fabricate, repair, and maintain electronic and electro-mechanical equipment of limited complexity under supervision in a patient care environment.
You will participate in on-the-job training, attend courses, and progress toward a Biomedical Equipment Technician role within the team, with a schedule from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, on campus.

In this role, you will test, calibrate, fabricate, repair, and maintain electronic and electro-mechanical equipment of limited complexity used in a patient care or medical/biological environment under direction functional supervision.
Documents actions required to correct equipment malfunctions.
The purpose of the training program is to prepare qualified graduate technicians for Biomedical Equipment Technician positions. The training program provides on the job experience utilizing the highly specialized principles of medical equipment maintenance. Upon successful completion of the training program the trainee will have the minimum level of technical knowledge, abilities, skills, and experience to qualify for the position of Biomedical Equipment Technician.
