Job description

Job Overview

The Electronics Technician performs basic diagnosis, repairs, and modifications to electronics systems, including maintenance, troubleshooting, installations, and testing. The role supports aviation operations and weather observing equipment, often deployed to McMurdo Station, Antarctica.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electronics systems.
• Perform periodic maintenance, troubleshooting, installations, and testing.
• Set up, maintain, and repair NAVAIDS, communications, and meteorology systems.
• Calibrate sensors and test equipment.
• Document and archive maintenance actions.
• Maintain tool inventory, manage spare parts inventory, and keep equipment logs.
• Ensure system readiness, capabilities, and reliability.
• Adhere to configuration, security, and frequency management policies.
• Provide 24/7 maintenance support and prepare incident reports.
• Participate in safety training and maintain a safe work environment.

Essential Requirements

• Must obtain T1 Clearance from the government customer.
• Must pass internal background checks and obtain a valid passport and driver’s license.
• Must pass medical and dental examinations prior to deployment; expenses reimbursable.
• Must be able to perform job duties in extreme, cold, dark, work environments.
• Knowledge and experience performing electronics repair, maintenance, and checkout.
• Ability to follow directions, work independently or with a team, and practice safety standards.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organization, problem-solving, critical thinking, customer service, and communication skills.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Formal electronics training from a technical school or equivalent military training (Class A or B) and at least 2 years of practical experience for Maintenance I.
• Maintenance II requires 4 years of practical experience; Maintenance III requires 8 years of experience, including supervisory experience.

Physical Demands

Stand and walk frequently, climb ladders or scaffolding, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 65 lbs. Must meet vision requirements and work in extreme cold.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay range: $24-36 per hour, dependent on location, skill set, and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), legal aid, employee assistance, paid time off, and federal holidays.
