Job description

Summary

You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN (ACOUSTICS SYSTEMS) in the CCS Test Director & Tech MGT Branch (Code R741), Weapons Repair Department (Code R700) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties
  • You will provide technical authority for the troubleshooting and resolution of complex software, hardware, and systems management problems across a wide range of submarine acoustic systems.
  • You will cover all associated hardware, including handling systems, patch panels, onboard trainers, and the back-end processors and servers that drive these systems.
  • You will diagnose and analyze complex system deviant performance, performing systematic root cause analysis to identify foundational issues, tracking fault resolution efforts, and developing alternatives for resolution.
  • You will oversee, contribute, and author development of acoustic sensor system test scenarios, plans, and procedures to be accomplished under time constraints.

  • This position will require deploying on a submarine or riding surface craft.
  • Employee must be able to retain radiological qualifications.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, 441- NETWORK OPERATIONS SPEC, proficiency level INTERMEDIATE the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
Qualifications

GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in providing technical direction and applying expert knowledge in Acoustics.
  • Experience in SONAR and Towed & Hull Mounted Array systems to include electrical and mechanical experience.
  • Experience in familiarization in the operation and maintenance of all acoustic systems for SSN/SSGN/SSBN submarines.
  • Experience in data collection, failure analysis and metric development for the purpose of troubleshooting and technical assistance for shipboard installed systems.
  • Experience in testing and technical support for submarine installed acoustic inboard and outboard electronics.
  • Experience with digital computer systems and their interfacing subsystems; developed working relationships with both in-agency and out-of-agency technical experts and stakeholder.
