Job description

Eaton’s Aerospace division is currently seeking an Electronics Technician for the 1st shift at our Grand Rapids, MI facility. The position follows a 1st shift schedule with core hours from 7am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday. The hourly rate for this role is $29 per hour. Salaries are based on candidate skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions.

What you’ll do
  • Assemble, test, repair, and troubleshoot electronic components and printed circuit boards with minimal supervision.
  • Prioritize work to meet scheduled delivery dates and ensure proper tooling and documentation.
  • Use test equipment to perform in‑process testing and visual inspections, identifying defective items and following established procedures.
  • Assist in process improvements and support engineering on new production manufacturability.
  • Adhere to operational procedures, ensuring tooling is calibrated and maintaining a clean, safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including coverage of other production areas when electronic work is unavailable.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Either an Associate’s Degree in an electronics‑focused technical field, six (6) years of experience in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting electronic assemblies/PCBs, or IPC‑7711 certification (active or expired).
  • Three years of experience with through‑hole, wire‑and‑terminal, and surface‑mount soldering.
  • Ability to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Position requires handling ITAR‑restricted hardware; all applicants must be U.S. persons (U.S. citizens, permanent residents, political asylees, or refugees).
  • Only candidates within a 50‑mile radius of Grand Rapids, Michigan will be considered (active‑Duty military members are exempt).
  • Working knowledge of fundamental electrical components (passive, linear, and logic).
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Certified in IPC‑J‑STD‑001 (active or expired).
  • Prior experience with IPC certifications: 7711, A610.
Position Criteria
  • Participate in functional cross‑training within all major requirements of the assigned department and demonstrate willingness to support any area of the business.
  • Read, understand, and follow product specifications, drawings, and work orders in English.
  • Working knowledge of shop test equipment and testing procedures.
  • Ability to work with inspection gauges, multimeters, voltmeters, force scales, torque wrenches, and electrical test equipment.
  • Knowledge of fundamental electrical components, mechanical physics, and color‑coded wire identification.
  • Cross‑train on a variety of hardware/sub‑assemblies and test procedures.
  • Position requires standing, bending, twisting, and the capability to lift or move up to 40lbs.
  • In‑house solder certification will be provided.
