Job summary

Spectra-Tech Manufacturing, Inc. is hiring an Electronics Solderer in Batavia Township, OH. You will hand-solder surface-mount and through-hole components onto PCB assemblies using soldering irons and related tools, following drawings, BOMs, and quality standards.

Starting pay is $18.00/hr. and up based on experience; eligible for a $500 hiring/retention bonus and a $100 monthly Perfect Attendance Award. Off every Friday at noon and hours Mon–Thu 6:00am–3:15pm, Fri 6:00am–12:00pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous hand soldering or electronics assembly experience is helpful but not required.
• Training will be provided on IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 standards.

Responsibilities

• Hand solder surface-mount and through-hole components onto PCBs.
• Solder wires and connectors; inspect solder joints for quality.

Position Summary

The Electronics Solderer is responsible for hand soldering surface-mount components, through-hole components, wires, connectors, and other electronic parts onto printed circuit board assemblies. This position uses soldering irons, hand tools, magnification equipment, and other production tools to complete electronic assemblies according to customer requirements, drawings, work instructions, and company quality standards.

Previous soldering or electronics manufacturing experience is preferred but not required. The company is willing to train a dependable individual who demonstrates good hand-eye coordination, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Hand solder surface-mount and through-hole electronic components onto printed circuit board assemblies.
• Solder wires, connectors, terminals, and other electronic parts as required.
• Use soldering irons, hot-air tools, magnification equipment, hand tools, and other production equipment safely.
• Install components according to drawings, bills of material, assembly instructions, and visual aids.
• Verify component identity, value, location, orientation, and polarity before soldering.
• Inspect completed work for solder bridges, insufficient solder, excess solder, cold solder joints, damaged components, and other workmanship defects.
• Perform basic solder touch-up, rework, and component replacement as authorized.
• Clean circuit boards and assemblies using approved materials and procedures.
• Follow applicable IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 workmanship requirements.
• Handle circuit boards and electronic components according to ESD-control requirements.
• Follow procedures for handling moisture-sensitive devices and temperature-sensitive components.
• Accurately complete required production, quality, and traceability documentation.
• Separate and clearly identify nonconforming products.
• Report damaged components, incorrect materials, repeated defects, and other quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain soldering equipment and keep tools and workstations clean and organized.
• Follow all company safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous hand soldering, electronics assembly, or manufacturing experience is helpful but not required.
• Knowledge of IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 standards is preferred, but training will be provided.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with small components.
• Ability to read and follow drawings, work instructions, bills of material, and assembly documentation.
• Ability to identify basic electronic components and component polarity after training.
• Basic computer, math, and documentation skills.
• Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
• Dependable attendance and a willingness to learn are required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in an electronic manufacturing environment.
• Regular use of soldering irons, magnification equipment, hand tools, cleaning materials, and other production equipment is required.
• The position may require extended periods of sitting or standing while performing detailed assembly work.
• Must have sufficient visual ability, with or without corrective lenses, to work with small components and inspect solder joints.
• Must be able to perform repetitive hand and finger movements and handle small electronic components.
• Must follow ESD, safety, ventilation, and personal protective equipment requirements.
• May occasionally be required to lift or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

Training

The company will provide training in hand-soldering techniques, component identification, equipment use, ESD controls, safety requirements, applicable IPC workmanship standards, and company manufacturing procedures. The employee must successfully complete required training and demonstrate the ability to perform assigned soldering work safely and accurately before working independently.
