Job summary

RIM Recruitment Professionals in Union City, California is seeking a hands-on Purchasing Manager to lead daily procurement for electronic components, cable materials, and manufacturing supplies while supervising a small purchasing team.

This hybrid role (four onsite days per week) reports to the VP of Supply Chain and collaborates with production, receiving, and engineering to maintain inventory, support schedules, and drive cost reductions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in purchasing or procurement, electronics manufacturing preferred.
• Experience supervising purchasing personnel.
• Strong knowledge of electronic component sourcing, BOMs, supplier negotiations, and material availability.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing inventory processes.
• Knowledge of JIT purchasing, blanket PO, and Kanban.
• Ability to manage supplier relationships, shortages, and changing production priorities.
• Analytical, organizational, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and standard business applications.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Balance hands-on purchasing with team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily purchasing activities for electronic components, BOMs, and materials; obtain quotes and negotiate pricing and delivery.
• Supervise and mentor a 2–3 person purchasing team; prioritize purchasing based on production requirements.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitor on-time delivery, pricing, and conduct supplier reviews.
• Maintain inventory levels; coordinate with manufacturing, receiving, and production to resolve shortages; support JIT.
• Track KPIs and prepare reports on purchasing activity and cost savings.
