Job summary

GSM Outdoors is seeking a Product Development Technician to provide hands-on technical support for electrical consumer products. You will test prototypes, troubleshoot issues, document requirements, and work with engineering and manufacturing partners to drive product improvements.

The ideal candidate combines practical electronics knowledge with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear communication of findings.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science degree or equivalent practical work experience.
• 3+ years of technical experience in consumer electronics or electrical product development.
• Experience with Bluetooth, cellular, and Wi‑Fi-enabled consumer products.
• Hands-on experience soldering and wiring simple circuits.

Responsibilities

• Support product development projects and prepare required technical documentation, including specifications and inspection checklists.
• Develop and maintain test plans and documentation for prototype evaluation and validation.
• Document performance, testing results, issues, and recommended improvements.
• Maintain clear, organized project documentation to support cross-team collaboration.
• Perform functional testing of products and prototypes to evaluate performance and identify issues.
• Test and troubleshoot electrical products using tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
• Measure electrical characteristics and develop power profiles as needed.
• Provide detailed symptom descriptions to support troubleshooting and resolution.
• Identify root causes of issues and recommend solutions.
• Communicate findings to engineering teams, stakeholders, and factories.
• Escalate concerns to management and propose improvements.
• Contribute creative input to improve functionality, reliability, and quality.
