Job summary

Actalent seeks a Manufacturing Process Engineer for its San Diego, CA electronics production environment. The role focuses on developing, improving, and supporting SMT, PCBA, and circuit card assembly processes to increase quality, throughput, and reliability.

You will drive NPI, document processes, and train staff while collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of process engineering or manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
• Hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing environments (SMT, PCBA, circuit card assemblies).
• Experience working with electronic assemblies, PCBAs, or SMT lines.
• Strong troubleshooting skills on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Support process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and throughput.
• Assist with NPI and process development from concept to production release.
• Develop and maintain processes for SMT, PCBA, and electronics assembly operations.
• Create and update work instructions to ensure repeatable production.
• Support equipment implementation and validation activities.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive corrective actions.
• Analyze production data to identify trends and optimization opportunities.
• Conduct root cause investigations and drive CAPAs.
• Support engineering projects from initiation to completion.
• Collaborate with production, quality, facilities and supply chain.
• Train operators on new processes and equipment usage.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, and FMEA to improve process capability.
