Job summary

US United States Fleet Forces Command seeks a professional engineer with an ABET-accredited background and current engineering licensure to lead critical time and frequency standards projects in the Washington, DC area.

The role requires a solid foundation in engineering science, calculus, and related physics topics, plus proven ability to communicate across national and international timekeeping communities and to manage complex technical programs.

Qualifications

  • Requires professional engineering degree with ABET accreditation or equivalent education meeting core calculus and engineering science requirements.
  • Current registration as EI/EIT or PE by any state/DC/territory; other paths may apply.
  • Passing the FE examination or equivalent licensure requirements for professional registration.
  • 60 semester hours of courses in physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences aligned with basic engineering program requirements.
  • Degree in engineering, engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology may be accepted with professional engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Implement time and time interval systems policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot unique and complex electronic systems.
  • Communicate orally and in writing with national and international timekeeping community.
  • Perform statistical algorithms as they apply to frequency standards and time scale.
  • Develop theoretical models or hardware guided by experimental data when no established principles exist.
