Job description

Electronic Tester I | 2nd Shift

Rochester Electronics is hiring immediately for Electronic Tester I | 2nd Shift.

Temporary position with the potential for conversion to a permanent role within 30 to 60 days.

As an Electronic Tester, you have:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; previous experience in electronics/semiconductors is helpful.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude. As a Rochester employee it is expected that the individual represents, supports, and encourages the Rochester culture by adherence to work policies and practices set forth within the company.
  • Stable work history. We consider individuals with proven track records and commitment.
  • Basic computer skills. Every Operator will utilize computer-based manufacturing systems to move products and enter data including Microsoft Office® software suite.
  • Ability to communicate verbally/written. Define specifications or written/verbal instruction; report daily outcomes and accomplishments to management.
  • Pay close attention to detail. Screening, visual inspecting measurements, and sorting of semiconductor devices.

Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM.

General Summary

The individual will be on the production test floor working on assigned products utilizing manual and automated test equipment, electro‑mechanical handlers, and related documentation according to product requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of manual, automatic, and semi‑automatic microelectronics testing equipment with specific direct instruction and supervision. Operations include, but are not limited to, correctly loading and unloading parts and fixtures, recognizing equipment and process issues, and utilizing equipment interface to make minor recipe adjustments.
  • Learn and understand various internal, Military, Jedec, and other standards that relate to areas of responsibility.
  • Learn and be trained on inspection of die and packages to company standards using high and low power microscopes for extended periods of time.
  • Follow defined specifications and reaction paths or written/verbal instruction.
  • Use multiple hand tools, such as tweezers and vacuum pens, to manually process delicate products without damaging components.
  • Use high resolution measuring equipment to measure components to within .005 inches of the standard.
  • Utilize computer‑based manufacturing systems to move product and enter data.
  • Read, understand, and apply technical drawings (data sheets) to the specific process; data sheets include marking drawings, testing requirements, parameters, and equipment setup drawings.
  • Escalate production issues to Technical staff for resolution.
  • Read, understand, and apply detailed specifications to production practices.
  • Complete functions with close attention to detail, quality, and task accuracy.
  • Train other employees on equipment operation and test process.
  • Maintain a well‑organized and audit‑ready work area.
  • Correctly use personal protective and/or specialized equipment for personal safety and product integrity.
  • Apply auditable 5S and LEAN manufacturing standards to work.
  • Read, comprehend, and pass certification tests for detailed process specifications.
  • Participate and respond to stakeholders, including auditors, on process specifications to which you are trained.
  • Fill nitrogen tanks.
  • May provide basic input and limited collaboration with engineers and technicians on operations specifications.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma, GED, or other equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 0‑2 years of experience typically required.
  • Must pass eye exam to be certified for inspection.
  • Must read, understand, and pass tests for electro‑static discharge safeguards.
  • Demonstrable ability in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office; including basic Excel spreadsheet navigation, data input, cell formatting, and sheet tabs.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Follow anti‑Foreign Object Debris requirements, including the use of coveralls, smocks, ESD straps, and gloves.
  • Ability to focus on precise repetitive task for extended periods of time.
  • Demonstrable fine motor skill and hand‑eye coordination in the manipulation of small parts.
  • Applicable knowledge of basic math skills, necessary to verify and adjust counts, correlate quantities, and ensure order accuracy.
